TESIL polyester staple fibres have been the market reference for over 50 years. Since 2002 TESIL fibres have been made exclusively from postconsumer PET bottle flakes, offering to several market areas a sustainable and cost effective solution to nonwoven applications requiring high technical standards, functional characteristics and consistent quality.
TESIL fibres are the result of our industrial commitment to provide powerful fibre solutions to an ever more demanding market environment.
TESIL fibres are made from selected post-consumer PET bottle flakes and are designed to meet the requirements of several end markets. In the area of r-PET fibres TESIL stands for a premium quality product characterized by optimized properties such as tenacity-elongation balance, color-matching to narrow customer specifications, an outstanding fit for the use of different nonwoven technologies and tailored finishes.
GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
SILON considers itself one of the leading producers of polyester staple fibres and cables in Europe. Already in 1996 we were the first in Europe to introduce the continuous production of polyesterfibres from postconsumer PET bottles (PET flakes). We are nowadays among the largest processors of PET flakes in Europe.
Chemical characteristics and features
TESIL is a high quality polyester fibre product made from recycled PET flakes. These are prepared from crushed post consumer PET bottles. Fibres can be adapted or changed to following features:
- Decitex range from 1.7 dtex to 17 dtex
- Crimp, cohesion and resilience fine-tuning
- Round or shaped fibre surface
- Applications of various finishes, appropriate to the intended end-use and bonding technology
- Modification and application of secondary additional properties
Benefits
- TESIL fibre is respected for its reliable and constant quality, dedicated for nonwoven textile production
- Is suitable for all dry-laid nonwoven production technologies
- Fine denier recycled fibres are also suitable for ring and open end spinning
- Fibres are suitable for the manufacture of nonwovens in combination with other staple fibres, both natural and man-made
- Fibre production enables mass-dyed coloring to customer specifications
- Multi-titer and multi-colored fibres can be pre-blended into controlled fixed ratios as a ready-to-use fibre mixture
- End-of-life products made from TESIL fibres are suitable for closed loop recycling
